Editorial standards
Sourcing health claims
We prefer, in order: peer-reviewed research, government and regulator documents (FDA, NIH, CDC), universities and institutions, company primary sources, and trusted industry reporting. We identify preprints, animal and lab studies, and early-phase trials as such; state sample sizes when they matter; and don't turn correlation into causation.
Known, promising, uncertain, marketing
Where it helps, stories separate what the evidence shows from what's early, what nobody knows yet, and how the claim is being sold.
Not medical advice
We publish journalism. We don't diagnose or recommend individual treatment. Talk to a clinician about your health.
Independence, sponsorship and clients
Sponsored content will always be labeled. Paid client work of our publisher, Pantheon Media, never earns favorable coverage, and client relationships are disclosed in any story that mentions a client. Atlas inclusion is editorial and free.
AI policy
We use AI tools to help organize research, transcribe, cluster data and draft. People verify every health claim, statistic, quote, company fact, funding figure and regulatory status against the source before publication. We don't publish AI-generated facts without verification.
